From Last Call to First Ideas

It was second semester of senior year at the University of South Carolina, and we were in our final integrated campaigns class—one last shot to prove we knew our stuff. Our assignment? Pick a Young Ones One Show brief and either create a killer campaign or totally flop. No pressure. Our team landed on NotCo’s "Not Hangover" brief because talking about hangovers sounded way more fun than anything else, right?

One wild story led to another until it hit us—the real horror of a night out isn’t the party, it’s the next morning. And what makes a hangover even worse? Having real responsibilities. Dragging yourself out of bed, pretending you're fine, and somehow pulling off a productive day is brutal.

Then we thought—what if history’s biggest moments were actually powered by the world’s worst hangovers? Benjamin Franklin? Hungover. John Hancock? Also hungover. Paul Revere? Fighting for his life with motion sickness. And just like that, our campaign was born: History’s Worst Hangovers: Don’t Let History Repeat Itself. It was ridiculous, it was hilarious, and it was the best time ever.

NotHangover is teaming up with Captain Morgan Spiced Rum for a limited-edition collaboration that brings a playful twist to a night out. Featuring a special collector’s edition bottle with a hilariously hungover Captain on the label, these bottles will be sold in barrels alongside sample packs of NotHangover shots. To build buzz, select social media influencers will get exclusive access to try the product and share their experiences. Tied to our campaign theme, this collab shows that with NotHangover, you can avoid feeling like Captain Morgan after a wild night—because no one wants to wake up that legendary.
